Time to step out in Downtown Springfield's Second Friday Art Walk. Our guest artist this month is painter Terry McIlrath, JouleFineArt.com. Music will be provided by Grace Raphael, voice and guitar. We always have a great time on Art Walk Fridays. Stop in and enjoy the fun, 5-8 pm, in the shop at 444 Main St.
This Month's Artist is Hilary Norton, an encaustic painter and printmaker living and working in Halsey, OR. She studied art at the The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, earning a BA in 2000. A native Oregonian, she also lived in New Mexico for several years. Her work has been featured in solo shows at the The Evergreen Art Gallery in Olympia, WA; WISTEC in Eugene, OR; the Joe Justad Gallery in Taos, NM; the Brownsville Art Assoc in Brownsville, OR; and the Corvallis Art Center in Corvallis, OR. In New Mexico, she showed with the Santa Fe Society of Artists from 2008-2010.
In the fall of 2014, she took an encaustic workshop at the Brownsville Art Assoc and found her calling. The translucence and malleability of the medium inspires her and allows her to layer colors and images, combining drawing, painting and printmaking. She is a number of the Brownsville Art Association. Starting tomorrow, December 28, 2016, we are having a huge clearance sale at the shop.
